P90X$%@*!!#*%^

Ouch.

I hurt.  All over.  Like a tractor trailer truck has run over me.

I started P90X Monday and I can tell you exactly why it works for so many people...and exactly why it doesn't for so many others.

It works because it kills you.  Literally, I think you die a little each time you put the dvd in and push play.  The only way you know you aren't dead is because every time you breath, sneeze, eat, cough, chew, talk, (you get the drift) you ache.
It doesn't work for so many others because its easy to want to give up!  I'm determined to do this and stay committed.  Mind you, after I finish an intense workout, I grab for the nearest Little Debbie snack and chow down, but it will still work!  It has to.  For goodness sake, I can't even snuggle with my pups because the simple weight of their dear little heads on my chest hurts!

...Some gave all.

I have a guardian angel.

Before he became my angel, he was my idol. I aspired to be like him on the soccer field, as a sibling, in life.

I wanted to grow up to be just like Sgt. Justin Wrisley Garvey.

I still remember the day we got the awful news that Justin's humvee had been ambushed in Iraq. It was surreal. It was something that happens to other families that you see on the news. Not my family.

To say I miss him is an understatement.

To say he is a hero is not giving him enough glory.

We celebrate Memorial Day to remember all the men and women who have sacrificed for our country. Imagine what life would be like if someone had not decided to step up and defend our country willingly.

Thank you. We can never thank you all enough. God bless the USA!

Jackpot

Last weekend I went to JoAnn's Fabrics to purchase more jersey knit fabric to make more skirts like this.  I made one Saturday with fabric I had purchased from a coworker that was cleaning out her sewing room.  She is also the one that mentored me in returning to sewing.  My Mimi was the one whom originally introduced me to this trade; an ode to her another day.

I did pick up some nice hot pink fabric to make the skirt out of as well as a tribal knit and a pattern for a dolman sleeve top.  I'm excited to work on that this weekend since we have 3 days off.  What really got me excited was that as I was leaving JoAnn's, I noticed a Goodwill in the same parking lot.  I have only been to this particular area once before and had not noticed the Goodwill.  Having some time to spare, I decided to go check it out as I was in a pretty nice part of town.

I ended up walking out of Goodwill with a black NY&Co. maxi skirt, a black Tommy Hilfiger shirt dress, and a tweed Ralph by Ralph Lauren blazer for.....(drumroll please!) $13.87!!!

I know some people don't get excited about thrift store shopping, but lately I had been feeling like my "thrifting sense" had failed me or left me altogether.  This trip to Goodwill gave me the sense that maybe it had just been on hiatus.  Needless to say, I was very excited about my purchases.  I can't wait to wear the shirt dress to school.  I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the blazer or try to resell it.  As for the maxi skirt, I've been living in them lately and already wore it to an event the youth at my church was putting on and I was partly responsible for.

On another note, please, pray for me.  This weekend my youth pastor and his beautiful wife are going to the beach and I am going to teach the youth their bible study Sunday evening.  I am excited and nervous regardless of the fact that this is what I do for a living.
