Crockpot Dessert

Hats, Heels, & Healthy Meals is here for February!
I've joined up with 3 girlfriends to hold each other (and you) accountable to keep our resolutions/goals for 2013.  So, each month we are linking up a recipe and a new style que.
The fun part: it's Top Chef style!

This months' recipe pick was dessert and the style pick was sparkle.

Here is my crockpot (supereasy, semi-healthy) dessert!

Inside Out Apple Pie
Ingredients:
1/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c walnuts
2Tb margarine (I used butter)
1 tsp cinnamon

1. Mix these ingredients together and stuff into cored apples.
2.  Place in crockpot in about 1 inch of apple cider.
3.  Cook on low until ready to eat.

PTA Escapades

Tales from the Teacher's Lounge
The things kids say when working at the PTA thrift store...

Upon me making a deal (aka bribing them to behave)
Me: "If I don't have to raise my voice all week..."
Class: "Miss, you never raise your voice.  I don't think its even possible."
(Are you freakin' kidding me?!  Challenge accepted.)

While vacuuming...
"Miss, I'm going to make some woman a real happy wife some day."

"Can you imagine buying your underwear from here?!"

"Miss, we aren't here to shop."

"I walk to McDonald's all the time."

"My mom won't care.  I don't have to report home til 8:00."
Me: "Wait, your mom doesn't care where you are til 8:00?!"
"Well, I mean, she cares."

"I can't come to the work night at the thrift store tonight."
"Okay, we'll miss you."
"Yeah, well, I have to get my brother off the bus and I have a gym account."
"Okay."
"If I don't go to the gym where I have the account every day it's a waste of money.  Not to mention lifting weights is a huge anger relief for me."
"Okay."
"So, I'm going to go to the gym and bench press."
"Cool." (Oh, middle school boys...)

Valentine Exchange

I love sending and receiving snail mail.  In fact, one of my goals for this year was to be more intentional with my relationships by sending more hand written notes.  Each month I have participated in some type of blog gift exchange.  I was really excited to see this one hosted by some of my favorite bloggers.

I received this amazing smelling candle from my Valentine, Julie, of Tokyo Blossom Boutique. It was so fun getting to know this music teacher and we even got to talk about running!  She has a sweet soul and a big heart.  Check out her post on what I sent her!
