In case you don't know, I'm what the people in the south call a Yankee. I've married a man that has a thick Southern accent and was born in raised in the heart of Carolina. For that reason, many of my "Yankee" ways have been critiqued; I don't use enough butter when I cook, my desserts are healthy, and I talk funny.
I have tried adopting some Southern traditions - I have to admit, I enjoy most of them, but my waistbands do not.
March 3rd was my hubby's birthday and we were fortunate enough to be blessed with 2 dozen eggs from another member of our church. With all these eggs on hand and a birthday to celebrate, I decided to try my hand at baking a pound cake from scratch!
This is intimidating; pound cake isn't easy. Not to mention, my mother inlaw makes a bangin' one so I had a slight competitive edge about me while baking. It was delicious, though! And my hubby was very excited to have a special, home-made birthday cake!
