I tend not to follow trends because I don't have the expendable income as a teacher to wear things for brief periods of time. However, I am discovering that there are certain trends that can be attained through thrifting and refashioning.
Here are some of the fall 2012 trends that I intend to incorporate into my wardrobe this year:
1. The color red. Yesterday at the thrift store I almost purchased a red blazer for $4 and I put it back on the rack! I'm headed over there today to pick it up. I can't believe I second guessed it.
It's so easy to style. I think what got me second guessing was my red hair, but I need to step outside my comfort zone with reds and pinks. I also picked up this great red jersey pencil skirt this summer for $3 at a thrift store.
2. Black and white prints. Already, this summer I added a black and white striped pencil skirt to my wardrobe using some fabric I got at a thrift store.
I also own a beautiful white blouse with black polka dots.
3. Bohemian print. I love bohemian print. I have several items in my closet already that would be considered this including a dolman sleeve top I made earlier this summer and I recently purchased fabric at a thrift that I intend to make a skirt out of with a Navajo-ish print on it.
The next two are trends that I'm hoping stick around through the fall; they will be in my wardrobe anyway because I'm just recently hopping on the bandwagon.
4. Turquoise anything. I love this color. It looks great with my red hair and it's fun and vibrant without being "day-glo." I recently got my first stitch fix and got this amazing dress!
If you love the dress, you must check out stitchfix by visiting here. It is glorious!
5. Men's wear. I believe this trend is sticking around for fall 2012 particularly in the area of hats, footwear, and structured jackets. I am very excited about this as I have just added these lovely duds to my wardrobe after a thrifting spree in NY.
As stated before, I'm no trend guru. However, I do love to look and feel good in my clothing so I've gotten excited about several of these items. Check back tomorrow for items I need to add to my wardrobe to complete it.
