Beauty

"Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes.  You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God." 1Peter 3:3-4

Sometimes I need to be reminded of what truly defines beauty and what really matters in life.
Sometimes I find myself caught up in what I want and what others have, making me feel as though I need to go out and spend money, buy new things, and have a fuller closet.
Dress: Belk(old), Tank: JCPenney, Necklace: Silpada (here), Earrings: Walmart, Shoes: Target clearance (can't find online)
And then, out of nowhere it hits me.
What I put on my body does not really make a difference.
It is what I invest on my insides that matters.

I should focus more time and energy preparing my heart
than I do stocking my closet, primping my hair, and doing my makeup.

I do think that its necessary to take pride in my appearance.
After all, no one will want to hear my heart if they can't stand to look at me.
But, I also realize that there is more to me than my clothes.
I pray others see that, too.

For instance,

This blurry image...
It normally wouldn't be shared on this blog.
I would have deleted it off my camera and never thought of it again,
but what if everyone we came into contact with was blurry.

And we had to get them "into focus" in order to get to know them.
Would you take the time to hear their heart and discover their beauty?
