Dear Body,
For some time now I've been trying to contort you to be what I imagine you should be. I am trying to take you back ten years to what I was when I graduated high school. I look at you in the mirror and I'm not always nice about what I see.
I'm so sorry that it's taken me this long to realize just how fabulous you really are.
Thank you. Thank you for sacrificing yourself by sliding through grass and turf all through high school and college to keep a soccer ball from leaving the field. Thank you for leaping higher and shuffling faster to get back on D on the basketball court. Thank you for literally putting your limbs in harm's way to stop a softball from going past the pitching mound.
Thank you for carrying me faster and further each time I go for a run. Thank you for the 13.1 miles you've taken me not once, but twice. Thank you for being willing to go again.
Thank you for helping me to maintain my posture and allowing me to walk down the aisle in heels to the man of my dreams.
Thank you for some day giving me a sweet babe I can call my own.
Thank you for telling me when I needed to slow down, pushing me when I needed to speed up, and cooperating when I was too stubborn to listen.
Thank you for being the temple I need to serve my purpose on this Earth. I am so privileged to have you to work within.
Thank you for putting up with my green smoothies, Whole 30 challenge, glasses of wine, and gallons of water. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy seafood, nuts, dairy, and gluten. I am so lucky that you are not picky.
Thank you for the ability to hug my loved ones, hold hands with my husband, and cuddle with my pups.
I can't really thank you enough for all the things you provide me. Protection, stamina, strength to name a few. I am really so blessed to have you and although I don't always treat you as such, I love you and I will do whatever it takes to care for you and appreciate you from here on out.
No longer will I stand at the mirror and critique you. I will celebrate all the beauty that you are and all the wonderful things you are capable of.
Love,
Me
Have you thanked your body today?
