Teacher Lady

This morning I was told I look like a teacher today. Which is okay by me considering I have been a teacher for the last 6 years.

I think the glasses are what does it. What do you think?

In honor of teachers everywhere, I fellowshipped with several of my own species tonight at my Alpha Pi meeting, a society of female educators intended to support education and our efforts as teachers. We had a goo meal at S&T Soda Shoppe in Pittsboro and I must say the birthday cake ice cream was the highlight of my day.

Southern Treat

In case you don't know, I'm what the people in the south call a Yankee. I've married a man that has a thick Southern accent and was born in raised in the heart of Carolina. For that reason, many of my "Yankee" ways have been critiqued; I don't use enough butter when I cook, my desserts are healthy, and I talk funny.

I have tried adopting some Southern traditions - I have to admit, I enjoy most of them, but my waistbands do not.

March 3rd was my hubby's birthday and we were fortunate enough to be blessed with 2 dozen eggs from another member of our church. With all these eggs on hand and a birthday to celebrate, I decided to try my hand at baking a pound cake from scratch!

This is intimidating; pound cake isn't easy. Not to mention, my mother inlaw makes a bangin' one so I had a slight competitive edge about me while baking. It was delicious, though! And my hubby was very excited to have a special, home-made birthday cake!

Re-fashioning my blog??

So, I've recently become addicted to several blogs and have been intensely reading them each day on my googlereader. I'm thinking that this blog needs to start taking a new direction and I need to start devoting regular time to it.

Since making this decision, I have added several things to my own blog that I think you will find helpful: you can now sign up to follow me by email making it easy to keep up with my new posts (which I promise to start doing on a regular basis), as well as some info about moi, and a list of blogs that I am in love with! Seriously, I wish I could live next door to these ladies because I just know we would be besties 4 life.

I hope you enjoy the new layout and I pray that I can stick to my commitment to be more involved with all of you via posts. I look forward to what the rest of the year holds as far as blogging is concerned for me. <3
