Sole Mates

I am a runner.
I don't really know how the obsession came about, when it started, or how it grew into what it currently is, but I love running.  It gives me time to talk to God, work out anguish and stress, and just have some "me" time.  Honestly, I don't want to know what type of person I would be without it.

This past weekend was the funnest race I have ever participated in and what made it even more special was the fact that my hubby decided to run it with me.  It was his first 5k and I must say, a great one to run for the first time!
This is a picture of my (once) white tee shirt and race tag after the race.

I was so proud of Justin for training/attempting the 5k.  On the way to the race, I took a few pictures to document what we looked like before being color bombed.

And after...

Alicia and I are 2 of a kind.  This picture pretty much sums us up.

All in all, I had a fantastic weekend.  Alicia husband and mine went golfing Saturday while we relaxed by her pool and ran some errands.  I got to fit in a trip to Trader Joes and we had breakfast after the race at Doc Taylor's - a staple in most of our trips to the beach.

We are so blessed to have these amazing friends in our lives.  Its not often you can find another couple that you get along with so well, both, independently and jointly hanging out.

Chocolate and Cookies

Chocolate and cookies...

It's all I seem to be thinking about these days!  I've lost 10 pounds in the last 3 months and now all I can think about is chocolate and cookies!  I don't even like chocolate and cookies!  I don't understand!!!

My dear husband last night: "I forgot how much I like fruit."

I think I've forgotten, too.

We are headed to the beach this weekend and its making me think more and more about the 4 pounds I've put back on since losing the original 12.  Its discouraging.  It's also my own fault.  I can lose them again, I just need to stop thinking about chocolate and cookies!  I am looking forward to a day on the beach Saturday with my friends and running the Color Me Rad Run on Sunday.  It's Justin's first 5k and I'm super excited to be doing it with him.  Alicia and I have determined that we are going to put our iPhones in zip-lock baggies so that we can take pictures each step of the way.  Pics to come!!

Wish us luck.

A Perfect Day Off

Yesterday was the perfect day off...

I started off the morning with a hot cup o' joe with my hubby (There is nothing quite like a cup of coffee in the morning while watching the news.  Can I get an Amen?)
I had a doctor's appointment at 9:15 in Sanford, my old stomping grounds.  I must say, I keep all of my doctors in Sanford still because it gives me an excuse to visit every now and then.  I have to admit, I miss Sanford.  It's strange to some people to hear me say that because Sanford is nothing spectacular, but I genuinely miss the convenience, social life, and community.

As I was driving to Sanford, I couldn't help but stare at my left hand and feel so blessed.
Do you ever have moments where you just can't believe that this is your life?

After my appointment, I went to Walmart and purchased a boo-coo (love that expression) of flowers to plant at our house.  I love this time of year simply for the harvest that is about to take place.  This year in particular I am super excited because we have also started a veggie garden on our back porch using 5 gallon buckets.
In it, we have tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, squash, zucchini, and okra.
I can't wait to harvest!

Perhaps the best part of my afternoon was lunch with my good friend, Laura.  I do not see Laura often enough and miss her terribly.  We are such busy women and can't always find make time to get together.  We ate at Miss Lacy's tea house and chatted for two hours!  It was bliss.

Once I got home I completed my (extremely belated) birthday present for my father.  I almost posted a picture until I realized he hasn't opened it yet and will see it if I do that!  So pictures on that (and perhaps my first tutorial??) later.

Then, my dear husband came home and took me out to sushi and The Hunger Games!
He had not seen the movie yet and we both enjoyed it.

On the way out of the movie theater, I saw the sweetest old couple holding hands.  I love it!
