Oops, just found it!

Epic fail on my part.
I had asked my girl, Ashley of Fashion is My Day Job, to guest post for me back in the fall.
And in my excitement for what she, Marissa, Margo, and I have been cooking up for 2013,
I came across her guest post that I never published!
My apologies.

Luckily, the sweet thing said it was okay for me to go ahead and post it now.
So, without further adieu, here is Miss Ashley's post on the peplum trend.
Btw, isn't she fabulous?!
*****

Peplum is dominating the fall 2012, whether it’s a peplum top or dress.  I actually own two items that are peplum: this adorable black and gray checkered dress and a royal blue peplum top. When I wear this form-fitting dress not only does it create the illusions of a tony waist, but it also creates the illusions of a curvy “backside”…watch out Kim Kardashian!
I’m a fan of peplum because A) it’s a classic style from the 50’s and B) Peplum garments creates a hour glass shape for ANYONE; no matter your size!!!

Want to create the illusion of a fuller chest size?  Look for peplum with a scope neckline and wear a statement necklace; eyes are automatically drawn there.
What’s your go to style for a flattering figure?
I would love the thank Lindsay for allowing to guest post on her blog. Lindsay is so humble, beautiful, and has so much patience (she has to since she’s a teacher).  I wish I had as much talent as Lindsay has within the fashion industry…have you seen her clutches or the clothes she’s designed?

I have to say a special thank you to Ashley because she calls herself my biggest fan and she truly is.
She has faith in me beyond my own understanding.  She is consistently encouraging me to try new things, create new clothing, and go out on a ledge with design.  She is a fabulous friend to me.  I'm grateful for her presence in my life.  Love you girl!

2013, welcome.

Welcome, 2013!
You know, I could sit here and make a list of resolutions like run more, eat less, choose to be happy each day, live for myself, stop trying to please others, blah blah blah.

But if we're all being honest here, no resolution has ever truly lasted into February.  Right?  Please, someone agree with me and make me feel better about that.

So I'm not going to call these resolutions.  There are definitely things I want to work on for 2013:

  • save enough money for my DSLR camera
  • upgrade my bloggy space
  • run more/eat less
  • keep organized
  • be the best wife/friend/daughter/sister I can be
More importantly I have a list of things I no longer want to waste my time on.  Do you do that?  Do you catch yourself wasting time on things that aren't important, you don't enjoy, or don't even care about?  I'm a sucker for it.

So here is my list of things I'm not going to waste (as much) time on this year:
  • Friendships I'm not truly invested in. (Ouch - that hurt to say)
  • Feeling sluggish after too many glasses of wine
  • Walking in shoes that aren't comfortable
  • Trying on clothes that I wish would fit
  • Making excuses
  • Sitting on the couch instead of running
  • Stressing
  • Eating processed foods
  • Laying in bed after I'm awake
  • Crying over spilt milk (or the equivalent)
  • Worrying
  • Wearing clothing I don't feel confident in
  • Judging myself
  • Critiquing my body
  • Gossiping
  • Fried food (it makes me feel bad anyway)
I'm sure there are other things I could stop wasting time on. Here's to hoping 2013 is just as blessed '12.

Adios 2012

2012 was a good year.
There were good things and bad things that happened.
I know that there is purpose in all things.

A little recap...

Went to the Bahamas with my man.

Received a Creative Teaching Grant.

Trained for my 3rd half marathon.

Led another successful VBS.

Rang in 2 years of wedded bliss with my man.

Celebrated my brother's birthday, Mimi's birthday, and 4th of July with my family.

Made new friends.

Reunited with old friends.

Grew that into infinity scarves (and adding more product each day).

Began blogging seriously and met some fierce females doing it.

Opened up more doors for my business and started Lulu's Mimi.

Ended the year with holiday parties, cookies, and great friends.
