I pride myself on establishing positive relationships with my students.

I like to think that they feel comfortable around me and are able/willing to talk to me about anything that they might need advice on.  I like to think that I can provide them a sense of consistency in their hectic lives and that I might be a positive role model in a world that is so vehemently lacking.

I was having a conversation with an 8th grade boy last week and it wasn't an extraordinary conversation by any means.  In fact, we may have been talking about basketball tryouts or some other happening at school.

Suddenly in the middle of me talking, this boy put his finger up, paused, and said,

"Hang on one second, I need to fart."

He then walked into the bathroom (leaving me with my mouth hanging open).

I stated, "Honey, ladies don't want to know when that is going to happen."

His response, "It's okay...false alarm."

Umm...I died.

I like having a close relationship with my students, 

but not that close!

Although, I guess it was polite of him to walk away??

Teammates

I think one of the best parts of marriage is the fact that you have a teammate;

someone who is on your side through thick and thin, good and bad, sickness and health.

Recently, I've been feeling this season of change rolling into my life and I've shared with you all how change gives me anxiety and I'm not its biggest fan.  It brings me so much peace and comfort knowing that no matter what my hubby is in my corner rooting for me.

I was really blessed to be raised by an amazing set of parents who exhibited teamwork very well throughout their marriage.  I realized after becoming a teacher that not everyone is blessed with extraordinary parents like I am.

Being teammates doesn't mean that my hubby always agrees with me or that we do whatever the other person wants to appease them.  In fact, some times being a teammate means my hubby is the voice of reason when I get overly excited and can't think straight.  Sometimes it means I'm the one saying, we can't afford that or let's shop around.  We balance each other.

I think back to what it was like actually being a member of a team in college and how we spent all of our time together.  We were our own little family on campus.  We cheered each other on and picked each other up when we were down.  We gave each other reason to smile when things weren't going well and we cried together when we couldn't find a way to smile.  That's what marriage is about, too.  There are days that I don't have a reason to smile except to know that my hubby is going to come home and he is going to love me unconditionally no matter how my day has gone.

I love knowing that no matter what anyone else has to say, my husband is going to be there for me.  He celebrates my accomplishments with me.  He supports my passions.  He makes me a priority and, in turn, makes me feel special.

I pray that I do the same for him.  So much of our marriage is not just the team that we have become, but the team that we have in our relationship with God.  Marriage truly is a covenant between husband, wife, and heavenly Father.  Through prayer, love, and communication, our team is unstoppable.

Ditsies is a membership service (that partners with women's non-profits) offering women a pair of undies each month that are tailored to your personal undergarment tastes.  You answer a very brief set of questions and each month a lovely little surprise arrives on your doorstep.

All undies are made in New York City using best-in-class fabrics, sewers, and designers.

You receive undies that would typically retail for approximately $36 a pair for just $12.  Not to mention, they arrive on your doorstep so you don't even have to go hunting for them.

Costs stay low because they have cut out the middle men, the marketing expenses, and each pair is made to order.

A few bonuses: You can skip a month at any time by simply logging on and requesting a skip.  You can sign up to send 10% of every purchase to a women's cause that you care about.  Not that you would want to, but you are free to cancel at any time.

My experience with Ditsies...

I have to say that I was very impressed with the selection choices on the Ditsies website.  I am a very big fan of comfort in the undergarment department, but that doesn't mean I like to rock a granny panty.  The styles, fit, and fabric choice were impressive.

My Ditsies arrived very promptly despite the fact that Hurricane Sandy was wreaking havoc on the east coast at the time I ordered them.  They came in a neat little package with the cutest little clothespin.  Not only were the undies beautiful to look at, they were extremely comfortable and satisfying to wear.

I highly recommend trying out this great service.  After all, who really enjoys underwear shopping anyway?
