My self confidence and body image are dwindling.
I've been talking to Jen of Fit for Expecting (no, I'm not pregnant) and our conversations have really started to put things in perspective for me. I'm excited to share that Jen is going to be doing a guest post on my blog in the near future sharing the process of how she helps you pinpoint your trouble zones, how to set healthy goals, and some techniques to use to reach those goals. (Part of the reason she is helping me is to show you how the process goes.)
In the few times I've chatted with her, I am already seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. This is do-able. My goals are reach-able. I am conform-able.
It is important to understand that our genes do not dictate - our decisions do. I am guilty of using excuses, cravings, and self-doubt as reasons to eat whatever I want, workout as little as I want, and continue losing notches in my belt. I'm so excited for what Jen has in store for you and for me!
In the meantime, here are a few things that are helping me keep my goals in sight right now:
- Nike+ Since updating with ios6, this app has become a form of social networking as well as a tracking device for my runs. I now have friends that I compete against and that encourage me while I work out. Accountability made easy.
- #whatsonyoursalad link up on Kristine's blog. It's also all over Instagram (coachgaines13) and Twitter (missgarvey). It has encouraged me to try new salad ideas, eat a salad each day (so I can post a picture), and make healthier choices.
- Fitness Friday linkup. That's right, this here link up is encouraging me. I'm so grateful to Kelly for allowing me to be a cohost. I look forward to writing this post each week and it motivates me to do more throughout the week so I have more to share.
Here are my #whatsonyoursalad pictures for the week:
Doing this link up has encouraged me to choose a salad for at least one meal each day. I encourage you to do the same. I feel so much better when I do.
Monday
| I turned my salad into a soup: tomatoes, celery, onion, zucchini, green pepper, and sausage. |
Tuesday
Thursday
I repeated Tuesday's salad - it was so darn tasty!
I have to tell you a few things about this #whatsonyoursalad link up. | Romaine, spinach, tomato, onion, green pepper, carrot, hickory smoked tuna, and onion strips |
I have to tell you the hickory smoked tuna in Tuesday's salad made the salad! And it was a pouch of hickory smoked tuna! All I did was open it up and put half of it on top of my veggies. Yum.
Wednesday
| In an effort to make healthier choices, I had salad with a side of stuffed shell for dinner. |
I repeated Tuesday's salad - it was so darn tasty!
1. I am loving learning new salad recipes from all the ladies that link up! I'm super excited to try some of the new ideas from this week; particularly the dressing ideas.
2. I, too, once thought salads were only good in a fried tortilla bowl, with croutons loaded on, or covered in ranch dressing. Wow, was I wrong!
3. I found a salad dressing that has changed my relationship with greens and possibly my life. Yum.
